Degreed is a Stockholm-based melodic/hard rock band formed in the beginning of 2005. Before degreed even
released their first album they managed to tour Scandinavia and Germany, getting sponsored by legendary
brands like Hagström and T-Rex, share the stage with greats like Europe, Turbonegro, Millencolin among
others – and represent one of the largest musical instrument distributors in Europe, Musik Meyer,
on the largest public music fair in the world, in 2007.
After a few years of touring, gaining credibility and fans, the band released their critically acclaimed
debut album life, love, loss in the fall of 2010 through Melodic Rock Records (Europe/USA),
Spinning INC (Japan) and Rambo/Sony Music Entertainment (Sweden). The band also released a limited edition
issue of the album on Rambo/Sony. Along with the release of this limited edition, the band teamed up with
Gain Music Entertainment (Hardcore Superstar, Mustache, Crashdiet etc.) to run a promotion campaign which
would help the band to reach out to a wider audience.
Continuing this already impressive journey, degreed has signed with AOR Records (Europe),
Spinning INC (Japan) and Spectra Records (USA, Canada) to release their second album called We Don’t Belong,
which no doubt will be one of the strongest rock releases of 2013. For this the band has once again
teamed up with producer/songwriter Erik Lidbom (the first degreed album, Arashi, Kat-Tun, E.X.I.L.E,
Masterplan, to name a few) who has produced, engineered and mixed the album. Erik is the best selling
songwriter in Japan with over 16 million sold copies of the work he has done. He has also written a
few songs for this particular album, amongst them two together with multi-platinum selling and
Grammy winning singer/songwriter Bill Champlin (the former singer of Chicago, songwriter for Earth,
Wind and Fire etc.). Bill sang on the Chicago nr.1 hit Look Away as well as singles You're Not Alone
and Hard Habit to Break. Now he will make another mark in history by singing a few lines on the new
degreed album, which will be released on September 2, 2013. The first single What If will be released
together with the video on August 5.
The new album of Degreed is simply perfect!!!! They show us through this new album that they have the
ability to refresh the classic old AOR recipes with elements borrowed from Pop, Progressive Rock and a
little bit of metal. This is a very important element for a band that wants to do something big!
When you have the ability to mix a lot of music genres and make a result like this album then you
know very well that you are ready for big things! The different musical ingredients are melted together
so great and they manage to keep a unity that few bands can do.
They have a solid sound, high playing level and songs that blow your mind when you hear them.
You can hear a lot of good stuff in there and is difficult to say that only one song is the best
of the album "We Don't Belong". Generally, Degreed made really great work and the production of
Erik Lidbom raise the CD to a higher level.
I have to admit that one of the best parts of the album is the song writing. The special songwriters as
legendary Bill Champlin and Eric Lidbom are here to show us their talent, to show us that they know what
to do, to show us that they know to choose great band and make this band bigger. But on the other hand,
Degreed perfectly fit with those songwriters and with their music, they manage to create a masterpiece!
