Interview taken from Jona Tee
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Hello Guys, Welcome aboard on BeRock Radio, the most melodic place!
Let’s “cut to the chase”. Tell me which were the common dreams that joined to create H.e.a.T.?
JONA: Hello, thanks for having me.
In the beginning we felt a lack of Melodic rock on the music scene.
We simply had to do something about it!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Which is the promise that you gave to yourselves when you lined up H.e.a.T.
that you had to keep?
JONA: To "Keep On Dreaming" of course!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": The band were signed to Peter Stormares record label StormVox, and in 2008 the debut album
H.e.a.T was released. In 2009, the band played at the Melodifestivalen 2009, the Swedish qualifier to the anal
Eurovision Song Contest, making it to the final round with the song "1000 miles". The single "1000 miles" was
the 5th most played song by a Swedish artist in Swedish radio last year according to Nielsen Music Control.
The band gained recognition from the rockers and from the press as well.
Did you expect that and how did you respond to this success?
JONA: We knew that the song was good, but we didn't expect such an overwhelming good responds.
The most important thing to us was to reach as many people as possible in Sweden and Melodifestivalen
is just the right stage for that.
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": When Vocalist Kenny Leckremo left the band, H.E.A.T. took Erik Grönwall as a new singer,
and after that released new studio album "Address The Nation" (28.03.2012). The album gained worldwide success
again! The Rockers loves Erik!
Which are the criteria for the new members of the band to join in?
JONA: First of all, you need a fighting spirit, and Erik got loads of it!
Second, inspiration. To keep a band going you need inspiration, so one of the most important criteria is
to have an inspiring personality. Right now the ideas and songs are flowing, it has been since Erik joined
us and we can't be more pleased. Not to forget a good voice! But I don't need to tell you about that,
you all know Erik has got what it takes and more.
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Tell me what happened to your way of releasing your last album. Which
were the difficulties and who were the people that helped you with them?
JONA: It actually went surprisingly smooth, no hiccups at all. Lots of great reviews!
The difference between "Address the nation" and the previous albums was the opportunity the record music
videos, which was a blast! So a big thanks to "Bröderna Blom & Tinnerholm" and Rene Valdes who made the
videos with us.
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": What really changed from your debut album until your last one?
JONA: The major thing has to be our new singer but also we took a slightly harder approach.
A little more energy, we wanted to capture the live feeling on the album!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Your latest video clips of the tracks "living on the run" (193.000+ views) and
"It's All About Tonight" (140.000+ views) already became a favorite one for the people, are there any
thoughts for a new video clip and if yes, which track would that be for video shooting?
JONA: Well, we actually recorded an acoustic version of In and out of trouble at Standstraight music.
It's also on YouTube if case you haven't seen it yet!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Sweden has a big history in Melodic Hard Rock genre,
do you thing that this is a great responsibility for H.e.a.T.?
JONA: We certainly have a great responsibility to carry on the legacy of Swedish hard rock.
Especially melodic hard rock since the biggest names from Sweden these days are metal.
Think I'm feeling a little turn of the tide here though.
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Sweden has some new melodic Hard Rock bands like Diamond Dawn, Nubian Rose and the
not so well-known Degreed, can you tell us Sweden's secret to giving birth to such good musicians and bands?
JONA: There's just something in the water I guess ;)
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": As guitarists, Dave and Eric bond together very well,
is there any secret in their cooperation?
JONA: They are very open minded with each other and play an equal amount of solos on songs etc.
they're like: "you wanna take this one?" So I think that's the secret.
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": What are your plans at the moment?
Do you think of releasing a new album in the near future?
JONA: We are writing songs atm and have a bunch of new cool ones for ya!
We're hitting the studio in the middle of August and we'll make sure you will
be updated with blogs and video diaries and so on!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": Tell me what happens at your “Live” performances and how
you succeed to transfuse your energy to the people?
JONA: Me and Grönwall usually warm up with some boxing to get us started and get the
adrenaline pumping! The guys are like running around crazy and doing push-ups and stuff.
We try to make as good a set as possible and rehearse it properly
so we can give it all live, every time!
ANDREAS "ROCKBELT": You can check the BeRock Radio playlist, you'll find a lot of H.e.a.T. songs,
this shows that BeRock's radio producers, music director, and listeners love H.e.a.T,
so say something to BeRock Radio readers and listeners to conclude this interview.
JONA: Will do mate! Thank you all for supporting Heat and I'll hope to see ya on the road
anytime soon! All the best!
Special Thanks to Sofia Granström for her help on this interview
